Once again we have been privileged to be working with our associated Charity, Prostate Cymru through a series of events in 2017 raised £2,715 for Prostate Cymru which is the leading prostate cancer charity in Wales.

The highlights of the year were two very popular events the first of which was when several of their vessels embarked on a “Prostate Cymru RIB Trip” embarking from St Justinian’s near St Davids and landing at the Quay in Haverfordwest near the Bristol Trader.

Following on from  this was a special rugby match organised by Rhys at St Davids Rugby Club between St Davids and Man-Up UK which was followed by  a Sporting Legends Evening compered by Bill Carne and including Rugby Legend Graham Price, local football hero and Welsh International Ian Walsh, former  Welsh International Geraint Bowen and television rugby analyst Sean Holley.

In support of the fundraising Voyages employee, Ieuan Jenkins ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and Mair Davies donated money from the Annual St Davids Horse and Dog Show.

In presenting the cheque Rhys Price who is director of the company said” Voyages of Discovery are pleased once again to be supporting Prostate Cymru and the work that it does in various areas particularly in  raising awareness as prostate cancer has hit the headlines in 2018 with well-known personalities such as Stephen Fry and Bill Turnbull revealing their diagnosis.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer affecting Welsh men. 2500 Welshmen are diagnosed and 550 die from the disease each year in Wales.1 in 8 Welshmen will suffer from prostate cancer which becomes 1 in 3 if you have a father or brother who is affected.
